Fiza Mairaj
Fiza Mairaj is interested in exploring the intersection of education and immigration policies, and how these policies shape educational integration experiences of newly arrived refugee and asylee students in public schools. Her research also explores how non-state actors, such as private and nonprofit organizations, influence the educational outcomes of these marginalized student populations. Fiza has expertise in qualitivative and mixed methods research design. She received her PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy from The University of Texas at Austin and is passionate about advancing social justice and equity in education and seeks to inform and improve the development of effective and inclusive policies and practices.
