VISION 2027 Strategic Publication

vision The Division of Administration and Finance has released its new divisional strategic plan, VISION 2027. The new strategic plan highlights and outlines how the nine departments within A&F will collectively work with university leadership to forge a path toward becoming a top 50 public university. VISION 2027 illustrates the division鈥檚 dedication and focus to an ongoing improvement to processes, programs, and service enhancements over the next five years. The fall semester is well underway at the 91破解版, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone in the Division of Administration & Finance. Campus Store Roars Back to Life at TDECU Stadium

91破解版 football fans were greeted with a welcome surprise at the Cougars鈥� season opener: the return of the Campus Store鈥檚 on-site location at TDECU Stadium. Located next to What It Do BBQ on Cullen Boulevard, the stadium store had a brief run during the final two games of the 2024 season. Now, it鈥檚 back for the entire 2025 football season, a long-awaited moment for Timothy Jackson, market leader for the System. Cougar Woods Dining Commons Reopens with Enhanced Student Experience in Mind

Cougar Woods Dining Commons reopened this fall semester after a busy summer of renovations, marking the completion of Phase II of its refresh project. This phase focused on transforming the space into a dynamic hub for dining and connection. The updated layout now features two distinct zones: a library-style area called the Zen Zone, and a lively social space known as the Social House. Students Have 鈥楻AD鈥� Time at Dining Services鈥� First Year Eats

Nearly 220 students ascended the stairs at the Retail, Auxiliary, and Dining (RAD) Center to be part of the mix of the 91破解版 Dining Services鈥� First Year Eats fall get-together. Students mingled while enjoying an evening of deejayed music, finger foods, wandering waiters, mocktails (cucumber mint mojito, berry spritzer, and lavender lemonade), and raffles. Dining Services Hosts Welcoming Barbecue Event at What It Do BBQ

To kick off the fall semester, Dining Services hosted a lively 鈥淲elcome Back Barbecue鈥� at What It Do BBQ, located next to the TDECU Stadium. Students, faculty, and staff came by to enjoy delicious food and music, while learning about campus resources and upcoming events. Dining Services representatives welcomed guests, introduced campus meal plans, and highlighted Grubhub services. Read more about the smoky and delicious event.

Parking and Transportation Enhances Student Outreach Through Tabling Events

To better connect with students, Parking and Transportation Services hosted two tabling events in September, offering helpful information and on-the-spot answers to common questions. At each event, the department displayed two large posters鈥攐ne detailing shuttle services and another explaining how to park correctly so the license plate reader can scan plates properly. Facilities Team Completes Bridge Reconstruction at Architecture Koi Pond

The Minor In-House Construction (MIC) team from Facilities/Construction Management successfully completed the reconstruction of the bridge spanning the Koi Pond, located adjacent to the Architecture Building. The new bridge not only improves access for Facilities Services to maintain the pond but also enhances the area's visual appeal. Originally installed in 2009, the Koi Pond was designed as a peaceful retreat for the campus community.
Delivery Services Busy with Student Packages

The Delivery Services team has had plenty to do with the great inrush of students for the fall semester. Packages have been arriving daily, as students receive items they ordered online or were sent from family members. Once at the Central Sorting Facility, items are grouped by residential halls so they can be placed on the appropriate vehicle for delivery to residential lockers or placed in the facilities will call to be picked up. Delivery Services then email students that their package has arrived and where to collect it.
Cullen Performance Hall Implements New ADA Process

Cullen Performance Hall prides itself as a venue for everyone in the community. As part of this goal, the theater has made it easier for patrons to reserve accessible seating locations that meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act on its seating chart when purchasing tickets online. A&F Staff Appreciation Nominations To Open in October

Nominations for the 2026 A&F Staff Appreciation Event will open in October. Staff can nominate colleagues across five categories. The individual awards are the V.I.S.I.O.N. Award, Silent Service Award, and Star Performer Award. The team awards are Team Impact Award, and Team Innovation Award. More information will follow in the coming weeks.
HR Expands Leadership Series with First Seminar for Managers and Supervisors

After successfully hosting a series of Leadership Seminars for executive-level staff, the 91破解版鈥檚 Human Resources department expanded its initiative by holding its first seminar tailored specifically for managers and supervisors 鈥� and it exceeded expectations. A total of 88 managers and supervisors attended the seminar. Post-event surveys collected feedback and suggestions, which ultimately inspired the creation of seminars for mid-level leaders. Mindful Museum

HR POWER UP invites you to take a break to reflect and meditate with the Mindful Museum series offered by the Blaffer Art Museum! On October 14 from 3:30 鈥� 5:00 p.m., join us in the Blaffer galleries to slow down, become centered, and engage with art through mindfulness and presence. Reflect on the different pieces of art and participate in a guided meditation inspired by the museum鈥檚 exhibition. Mindful Museum sessions create a welcoming space where art and well-being meet in meaningful ways. Sessions are open to faculty, staff and students.
New Meal Plans for Faculty and Staff

Like eating at on-campus eateries such as Cougar Woods and Moody Dining Commons and Absurd Bird to name a few? Good news, Dining Services now has specialized meals plans for faculty and staff to choose from. The meal plans are the Block 50, that gives users 50 meal swipes plus $150 in Cougar Dining Dollars, and the Block 100, which gives the user 100 meal swipes plus $275 Cougar Dining Dollars. Faculty and Staff can learn more about these meal plans and sign up for them through the Cougar Card Portal on access.uh.

Faculty & Staff Tailgate Set for October 18

Please Save the Date for this year鈥檚 Faculty/Staff Homecoming Tailgate celebration set for October 18. The Homecoming Game will see the 91破解版 Cougars football team battle the University of Arizona Wildcats. While the game time has yet to be confirmed, we encourage you to Save the Date and plan to join in the Homecoming festivities to enjoy fun, food, and fellowship during the 2025 Homecoming Game. Electric Apprentice Highlighted by Electrical Construction & Maintenance Magazine

Facilities Management Electrical Apprentice Rubin Logan has been named to Electrical Construction & Maintenance (EC&M) Magazine鈥檚 30 Under 30 Electrical All Stars. Logan has been an apprentice for three years working alongside Master Electrician Lonnie McWilliams. During his apprenticeship, he replaces, tests, and installs receptacles, troubleshoots heavy equipment like boilers, chillers, and water towers. Logan aims to become a master electrician and is attending a four-year electrical school.
Remembers 9/11 on 24-Year Anniversary of Attacks

Members of Administration and Finance were among the invited participants of the University鈥檚 moment of remembrance, held at the 9/11 Memorial located at the Student Center South. The event marked the 24-year anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. It honored the victims, the first responders, and those who continued their efforts throughout the aftermath and the years that followed. A&F was represented by the University of Houston Police Department, Office of Emergency Management, and Fire Life & Safety.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month Kicks Off in October

Heads up, Coogs! Cybersecurity Awareness Month Kicks Off in October. This year鈥檚 theme is Stay Safe Online, and it highlights simple, effective ways to protect yourself, your family, and the university from online threats. In the coming weeks, the University Information Technology department will disseminate emails and information detailing ways you can stay safe online such as campus-wide digital signage that will highlight key cybersecurity habits, the advantage of using strong passwords and password manager to name a few. Emergency call boxes are placed at various locations across the 91破解版 campus. The call boxes can place a call directly to the PD dispatch center to request police assistance, security escorts, and any other police service. The call boxes are on free-standing towers or mounted on light poles and are labeled 'Emergency.' See the locations of the emergency call boxes on this interactive map.
The 91破解版 has selected DocuSign as the digital signature software solution. DocuSign is an e-signature solution that allows users to quickly and securely access and sign documents. Using DocuSign will facilitate the electronic signing and sending of documents while providing insight throughout the signing process. In August, FIXIT鈥檚 new work order software will be implemented. The same FIXIT icon will be linked to the new software in Access. Some new features include a faster and easier user interface on desktop and mobile, increased visibility of existing work orders, and a more intuitive online service request portal. As part of preparing for this change, the Building Coordinator meeting held in July included a presentation on the new work order management system.

When the Sirens Sound

The 91破解版 Outdoor Warning Siren System is designed to alert students, faculty, staff and visitors in the event of a shelter-in-place emergency where it is unsafe to be outdoors. The siren is activated by the University and provides a quick method of notifying the campus with an audible tone that can be heard outdoors. It is meant to alert everyone to seek shelter indoors.鈥�

DUO Increases Safety in Cybersecurity

You may think YOU get a lot of mail鈥�.In reality, only about a third of all mail received by mail servers actually gets delivered to faculty, staff and student mailboxes. This is thanks to the System-wide implementation of Proofpoint, an email security solution that protects users from hackers, viruses, malicious software (malware), phishing and other potentially damaging attacks.
Students, faculty and staff who have a bicycle on campus are required to register it. Registration takes only minutes to complete and is free. A registration sticker will be provided and should be placed on the bicycle. Log in to your myParking account through Access to register.
Police Department - Crime Prevention Awareness Talks

The Police Department is sharing safety tips and precautions that you can take to reduce the risk. to yourself and discourage those who commit crimes. The Go Blue Phone feature is another resource at your fingertips, along with the Security Escort Program, and Cougar Ride. Parking is enhancing the parking experience through the implementation of virtual meter parking. Payment is no longer accepted through physical meters. There is signage at each of the virtual meter locations on campus explaining how to pay to park in these visitor spaces, which are marked with orange striping. about the text-to-pay virtual meter parking.

Copy and Print Wins ACUP+ Award

The 91破解版鈥檚 Copy and Print department were recognized by the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP+) with an ACUP+ Platinum Award in the Offset Single Page category for their Report on Philanthropy brochure that details 鈥檚 philanthropy efforts. The awards were announced at ACUP鈥檚 2025 Conference held in Costa Mesa, California.
Recognizing Leadership: Cindy Crews Honored for Excellence

Parking & Transportation Director Cindy Crews received the Parking Employee Award of Excellence at the 2024 Texas Parking and Transportation Association (TPTA) Annual Conference, held April in Galveston. Crews received the recognition for her outstanding leadership and customer-focused initiatives at . Under her guidance, the department has made major strides in operational efficiency and service quality while managing a $25 million parking permit program.
Innovation in Action: Lot Spotters Takes the Spotlight

The department鈥檚 Lot Spotters program, launched in March 2024, earned the Parking Program Award of Excellence at the 2024 Texas Parking and Transportation Association (TPTA) Annual Conference, held April in Galveston. Lot Spotter was recognized for its creative, cost-effective approach to customer service and issue resolution. Using QR code-enabled signage, Lot Spotters empowers users to quickly report parking-related issues 鈥� such as broken elevators, litter, or maintenance needs 鈥� via a short online form.
Mark Rosanes, a dedicated member of the 91破解版鈥檚 University Information Technology department, was recently awarded the President鈥檚 Excellence Award in the Technical, Service, and Craft category. With over two decades of service at , starting in December 2001 and transitioning to UIT in May 2009, Mark has become an essential part of the campus鈥� communication infrastructure. Mark鈥檚 recognition in the Technical, Service, and Craft category celebrates the technical expertise he has brought to his role over the years. about Rosanes receiving the President's Excellence Award.
Assistant Chief of Police Nominated for 911der Woman of the Year

Assistant Chief of Police Chandra Johnson has been nominated as a 2024 911der Woman of the Year candidate. The honor recognizes the incredible achievements and dedication of women working in the 9-1-1 industry. Johnson鈥檚 nomination highlighted her over 35 years of experience in law enforcement, the last 10 of which have been spent at PD, where she instituted an evidence tracking system and helped the department become an accredited police agency with the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.
Dining Sr Executive Chef Chad McDonald Wins Awards at NACUFS Nationals

Dining Senior Executive Chef Chad McDonald won third place at the NACUFS Culinary Challenge as part of the NACUFS 2024 National Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Representing the Southern Region for the second consecutive year, McDonald鈥檚 fruit de mer put him among the top three, winning an American Culinary Federation (ACF) gold medal in the process. McDonald bested his performance from a year ago where he won an ACF silver medal.
