Virtual Graduate Programs Information Session 
Attend a virtual information session on pursuing an advanced degree at the Hobby School that provides insight into the admissions process, degree funding, career outcomes and more. Domestic applicants who attend receive an application fee waiver.

Hobby School Alumni Association College Football Night 
The Hobby School community is invited to attend the 91破解版 vs. Rice University football game. Tickets are $20 each, and a tailgate gathering will take place prior to kickoff.

Fall 2025 Civic Engagement Boot Camp
The daylong workshop will focus on voter education and registration. Participants can engage in hands-on activities and training sessions led by speakers with expertise from diverse sectors.

How to Break Up with Your Phone with Catherine Price
Best-selling author and health and science journalist Catherine Price will share her expertise on the impact of a screen-based world and provide evidence-based strategies for reconnecting with parts of our lives that don't happen on a screen. Her campus visit kicks off the "Rebooting Our Relationship with Tech" lecture series hosted by the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Center.

Inside Texas Internet Privacy Laws with Tyler Bridegan
Tyler Bridegan with the Texas Attorney General's office discusses the state's evolving approach to internet privacy enforcement. A complimentary lunch will be included with your registration. His campus visit is a collaboration with the 91破解版 Law Center.

Leland Fellows-Washington Application Deadline 
Leland Fellows are full-time congressional interns who work on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., researching legislation, attending hearings and briefings and interacting with constituents on various issues. 

Oct. 6-10 
National Voter Education Week 
The Hobby School joins hundreds of partners across the country to promote National Voter Education Week through student-centered activities and educational programming that empowers registered voters to find their polling location, understand their ballot and make a plan to vote.

Former Hobby School interns and Certified Public Managers are eligible to receive the 2025 Hobby Leadership Award for their leadership and dedication to civic engagement. Self-nominations are accepted.

Monday, Oct. 13
Richard Murray Endowed Scholarship
Open to students who exhibit exceptional dedication to public service, the Richard Murray Endowed Scholarship honors Professor Emeritus Richard Murray's service to the Houston community and his more than 50 years of teaching and research at the University of Houston. Deadline to apply is Monday, Oct. 13.

AI and Our Future: How AI and Search Engine Algorithms Reinforce Oppression 
Best-selling author and social scientist Safiya Umoja Noble will deliver the 2025 Elizabeth D. Rockwell Distinguished Lecture, sharing her expertise on issues of algorithmic discrimination and technology bias.

Hobby School Senior Research Fellow Richard Murray breaks down the proposed Texas redistricting maps for the 2026 midterm elections in the next episode of Hobby Talks. He explains what the five newly drawn congressional districts mean for Texans and the balance of power in Congress.
