Why this Credential?

Energy and the Subsea Systems Institute are proud to offer this program designed to introduce and deepen understanding of electrical engineering principles critical to electrification of the energy industry. Electrification plays a vital role in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance of energy systems across the value chain—from production and processing to transportation and end-use delivery.

This program responds directly to the increasing need for skilled professionals who can develop, operate, and maintain electrically powered infrastructure and ensure its safety and resilience. Participants will gain foundational and applied knowledge that supports the design, integration, and inspection of electrified systems within both traditional and emerging energy platforms, including offshore and subsea environments. By bridging engineering theory with real-world applications, the program prepares attendees to contribute meaningfully to the future of energy.

Instruction for each badge consists of six modules, with each module taking 1-2 hours to complete, over six weeks. Badges do not have to be completed in order.

Who Should Enroll?

The Electrification in Energy Program is designed for the following groups:

  • Managers who want a better understanding of electrical engineering to make decisions related to energy systems.
  • Technicians and maintenance personnel who are involved in the day-to-day operation of energy systems.
  • Energy industry personnel who want to extend their system capability by understanding more about electrical engineering.

Curriculum

Instruction for each badge consists of six 1-2 hour modules, taking place over a six-week period. A healthy mix of Faculty modules (blue) and Industry Instructor modules (red) provide a well-rounded learning experience.

Badge I: Power Fundamentals

Recommended for those with backgrounds other than electrical engineering

Electrification in Energy Badge 1

Badge I will focus on foundational concepts necessary for a better understanding of electrical systems relevant to energy, offshore and subsea. As such, most of the modules in this Badge are Faculty driven (blue). Key objectives for each of the Faculty modules can be found below.

Badge I: Faculty Modules

Overview I will be delivered in hybrid format at the 91Æƽâ°æ, and will consist of two parts. First, Industry Speakers will share their knowledge about the current state of electrification in energy. Second, an Industry Panel will provide insightful answers to questions from a moderator and the audience. This module is an introduction for the course participants, will be supported by industry sponsors, and is open to potential registrants!

Tentative date and location of Overview I is August 15th at the 91Æƽâ°æ Tech Bridge. Click on the Register Now button at the top and bottom of the page if you are interested in attending.
