Atmospheric Radiation Measurement
In 2022, Houston, Texas became a nexus for field campaigns aiming to further our understanding of the feedbacks between convective clouds, aerosols, and atmospheric boundary layer properties. Eight research teams collected data from 14 sites distributed within a ~80-km radius around Houston over 46 days between 2 June and 18 September 2022. The data will facilitate numerical simulations and the fundamental study of atmospheric processes. The CC was one of the 14 study sites. The entire data set is now available online.

Soil Carbon Study
February 6, 2024
Presentation by Resource Environmental Solutions
Thanks to the support of coastal prairie enthusiast Beth Robertson, the University of Houston Coastal Center was able to accept a proposal by Resource Environmental Solutions (RES) to undertake a soil carbon baseline study at its facility at La Marque in Galveston County. Soil cores and vegetation surveys were performed at 77 sampling sites at the 925-acre CC facility, with the undisturbed soils of the central Aumann Prairie serving as the reference prairie. The study also included following the same sampling protocols at 15 sites at the Lawther-Deer Park Prairie in Harris County as a comparison prairie.
