Couples Check-up
Our Couples Check-up involves a comprehensive assessment of a couple’s strength and weaknesses in communication and conflict. This profile is based on an extensive body of research on those facets of couples’ interaction that are related to long-term relationship success.
The Couples Check-up involves completion of questionnaires designed to tap the key relationship dimensions, actual observations of couple’s communication around issues of conflict, and measures of psychophysiological functioning that reflect patterns of emotional arousal. Information is obtained from husbands and wives separately, and summarized to provide an individualized profile for relationship success for each couple. Once completed, a comprehensive report summarizing these results is prepared and discussed with the couple in an individualized feedback session with a licensed psychologist (for $450) or with a graduate student ($300).

Participate in Paid Research in our Lab
We are currently enrolling participants in two paid research studies focused on couples. Participation in these studies is not a replacement for therapy. Rather, it is an opportunity to contribute to research that may improve our understanding of the issues that couples face and our ability to help them in the future.
The first research study is focused on how couples handle conflict. Couples receive $80 for their participation, which includes online questionnaires (1.5 hours) and an in-person couples visit to our lab at the 91Æƽâ°æ (3 hours). If you are interested in participating, please complete the following eligibility survey:
The second research study is fully remote and investigates the role of personality in romantic relationships. Couples receive $60 for their participation, which includes online questionnaires (1 hour) and a separate Zoom appointment (1.5 hours) for each member of the couple. If you are interested in participating in this study, please complete the following eligibility survey:
If you are eligible to participate in one or both of these studies based on your responses to the surveys, members of their respective research teams will reach out to you. Participation in these research studies is separate from our couple’s therapy clinic and will not in any way impact your eligibility to receive therapy services.
