Supporting Our Coogs

Dear Faculty,

It’s hard to believe that October is here. It is a busy time, and I know you are working hard to balance the commitments of research, teaching, and service.

With ambitious yet attainable retention, graduation, and research goals ahead of us this year, I am deepy grateful for your efforts to move our institution forward. Early wins this fall include solid enrollment, recognition from trusted higher education rankings and our record number of first-time-in-college Coogs.

Attending a new institution of learning is never an easy transition, so your support is particularly important in helping these newest Coogs thrive this semester and beyond. One of the most important factors in student success is their interaction with faculty. I ask that you engage with your students and let them know that you care about their success.

As you get to know our new and continuing students in your respective courses, please provide them with connections to the wide range of student support resources that offers, and should you feel they may be veering off track, please send progress reports to the Student Success staff through Navigate. As a reminder, please refer students to CoogsCare should they be experiencing any personal or mental health challenges.

You might also consider joining Paws Up Profs. This is a faculty group dedicated to encouraging pride within our student community and encouraging our Coogs to be more involved in campus events and activities. Please feel free to contact the group or .

Thank you again for making a truly special place and for helping ensure our students’ success in the classroom and their communities.

Respectfully,

Diane Z. Chase
Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost,
