Recent Faculty Activity

Faculty from the Department of English and the Creative Writing program have many accomplishments to celebrate in the spring of 2024: books published, fellowships received, and more. Both at the university and in the city at large, their contributions are myriad.
 

Dr. Daniel Davies was awarded a Solmsen Fellowship by the Institute for Research in the Humanities at the University of Wisconsin for his project 鈥淯nder Siege: Perpetual Warfare and Late-Medieval Literature.鈥

 

The CLASS Media and Moving Image (MMI) initiative (chaired by Dr. Karen Fang) has launched an , from which they will share info about the initiative, new courses, affiliate faculty, programming funds, and student prize competition.

 

Dr. Amanda Ellis discussed her recent book, (2021), with Dr. Haylee Harrell as part of the Faculty Spotlight Series hosted by the English Department and the Undergraduate English Society.

 

Dr. Sebastian Lecourt addressed the Houston Symposium in Philosophy of Religion, a group that meets regularly at Houston鈥檚 Holocaust Museum. Dr. Lecourt gave an overview of his current book project, The Genres of Comparative Religion.

 

Kevin Prufer鈥檚 debut novel, is forthcoming in April 2024 from Acre Books.

 

Dr. Michael D Snediker鈥檚 third book of poems, Jones Very, is forthcoming in 2024 from Ornithopter Press.

 

Dr. David Womble, who serves on the Faculty Senate, spoke at January鈥檚 2024 . The conference explored 鈥渃hanges and challenges in higher ed鈥攆rom academic freedom to AI, climate change to mental health.鈥
